Alex recently became a Documenter with Canopy Atlanta and just completed a six month Energy Justice Ambassador Cohort with the Girl Plus Environment organization. Her priorities for Tri-Cities include increasing sustainability through energy justice education programs and artist activism initiatives like Pianos for Peace. She desires to become more actively involved in community enrichment through volunteering with and working for civic-minded organizations that are deeply invested in the improvement of her local neighborhood.

Cheryl is president of the board at ArtsXchange, a nonprofit based in East Point. She is charged with carrying its mission forward by engaging with the community, building partnerships, interfacing with funders, and communicating with members and artists. In this position, she attends local business and neighborhood meetings and interacts with government officials when necessary. Her prior community involvement comes from being a supporter of Ballethnic Dance Company, which she performed with for more than 20 years.

Sissie has worked on projects ranging from community programming and direction, event management, and grant management in order to create long term sustainable results. She has been an organizational/programming leader offering 20 years of results-focused capacity building in both the non- and for-profit sectors. In 2007, she produced a “Tribute to Coretta Scott King” at Ebenezer Baptist Church on Auburn Avenue.

Tyree is a writer, director, and producer from Atlanta. They worked as a journalist at Atlanta News First, CNN, CBS News, and MSNBC before transitioning into comedy and variety shows such as The Amber Ruffin Show and Yo! MTV Raps. Tyree is a theater nerd, comedy junkie, and the first Black winner of Nickelodeon’s Slime Time Live. They navigate their career with the mission to create and improve community development through great storytelling. They are currently in a year-long production and development fellowship as part of the inaugural program with AMC Studios and the Black Theatre Coalition.

Kendra’s middle name was given to her by Aminata Umoja, a renowned New Afrikan Elder. It represents her public speaking style, politics, and the place she was born—Mississippi. Now living in Tri-Cities, Williams works as a caregiver and birthworker, and she enjoys theater, photography, and nature. She also serves as a Tri-Cities Reporting Fellow.

Dustin Chambers is a freelance photojournalist and filmmaker. His work regularly appears in publications like The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Atlanta magazine. He traces and traverses histories of justice, highlighting the beauty and the championing of people whose stories are often being erased. He was born, raised, and currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia.

Grace Donnelly is an Atlanta-based freelance writer and editor who has covered climate, technology, transportation, and economic news. She previously reported on local transit issues for the Atlanta Business Chronicle and her work has been published by Fortune Magazine, Morning Brew, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, WABE, and Decaturish.

Sean Fahie (pronounced FOY) is a contract graphic designer, illustrator, creative consultant, and author based out of Atlanta. He specializes in print-based media with extensive experience in design, illustration, branding, marketing, and apparel. Fahie also has published three books, written one short film, and coproduced one full-length feature.

Dan Flores, aka DTM, is a multimedia artist born and raised in East LA. He is now based in Atlanta. His art career spans over 20 years in digital and traditional arts, creating graphic design, concept art, vector illustration, pencil and ink drawings, fine art paintings, and murals. After reading what Tri-Cities residents had to say, plus thinking about the area’s history and social changes, he tried to fit all he could to show how important Tri-Cities is to the history of the South, the history of arts and entertainment, and the history of social change.

Christina has been Canopy Atlanta’s contributing editor since 2022, overseeing publication of its Community Issues. She is an award-winning freelance journalist who has written for Atlanta magazine, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, GQ, The Guardian,,The Washington Post, and more. She is also a frequent contributor to NPR Music’s All Songs Considered podcast.

Hannah S. Palmer, a native of Forest Park, is the author of Flight Path: A Search for Roots beneath the World’s Busiest Airport. Since 2017, she has led a campaign to restore the urban headwaters of Georgia’s Flint River. She also serves on Canopy Atlanta’s board of directors.

Ada is an Atlanta-based, award-winning journalist with published stories at Canopy Atlanta, CNN, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Atlanta Magazine and Georgia Public Broadcasting. She began working with CA doing freelance community engagement by listening to local communities before joining full-time to help with various levels of production across stories, website, social media and the newsletters, Canopy Atlanta Voices and For the Record. She will be assisting in revisiting communities after an issue has been published to do continued reporting based on resident needs. She values journalism that prioritizes authenticity and intentionality.
