This is a weekly feature called Community Notebook, filled with snippets of information, conversations, and reporting about the communities where we work. Canopy Atlanta Fellows and other community residents may contribute to this weekly reporting. The Community Notebook is featured in our newsletter Voices — sign up to find this in your inbox every week.
Canopy Atlanta first explored this question in 2021 in our Grove Park/Bankhead Community Issue. On Saturday, Sept. 6, the answer didn’t matter when 35 neighbors and community members came together to clean up Baker Road, collecting 25 bags of trash.
A special thank you to the Proctor Creek Stewardship Council, Partnership for Southern Equity, and the Center Hill and Grove Park Neighborhood Associations for their partnership and commitment.
Nothing brings a community together like a common goal. Here’s to cleaner streets, and neighbors working side by side.
This was the first in a series of scheduled cleanups, so join us later this year for our next community cleanup. More details to follow.
